Exams & X-rays
We feel it's important you have regular exams and X-rays to keep track of
the condition of your oral health. Preventing problems or catching them early means less stress for you. Our goal
is to keep you from experiencing problems with your teeth and gums. Once we have completed your exam and any necessary
treatment, our thorough approach to your care can keep you on a maintainance-only schedule for the rest of your life.
Teeth Whitening
Everybody loves a bright white smile, and there are a variety of products and procedures available
to help you improve the look of yours. We will examine your teeth and recommend the procedure that will create the brightest
smile for you. One of the methods we use is bleaching. We apply a protective gel to your gums or a rubber shield
to protect your gums. We apply the bleaching agent and a special light to enhance the action of the agent. Due
to the different levels and coloration of stains on the teeth, more than one treatment may be required. Your resulting
smile should impress all who see you.
Hygiene/Cleanings
Dr. Kelstrom
feels that frequent cleanings are critical to maintaining the overall health of your teeth and gums. Additionally, with
today's technology, we have the ability to eliminate bad breath concerns, preventing bleeding gums and making certain that
your gums will always be healthy. We will work with you to teach you how best to keep your mouth looking and feeling
good between check ups.
Periodontal Treatement
The number 1 reason for tooth loss in adults is gum disease. It's caused by infection of tissue that
surrounds the teeth. In many cases this infection is not visible. This is why the disease is so common among adults
over 30 and causes such severe damage so quickly. We at Hazel Dell Dental Care are dedicated to preventing gum disease.
We use several effective methods to maintain the health of your gums. Our goal is to keep your mouth healthy and your
smile a thing to behold.
Root Canal Treatment
This
treatment is required when the health of the the tooth's nerve is in jeopardy. This could happen when a tooth gets a
crack, broken or some other trauma. It can, also, start as a result of tooth decay. The tooth and area surrounding
it could become inflamed due to infection. Symptoms could include constant or intermittent pain and/or swelling, sensitivity
to pressure, heat or cold, a dull throbbing ache. If this occurs, we may sometimes prescribe anti-biotic medication
to eliminate the infection prior to our treatment. While regularly scheduled X-rays and exams can help in avoiding this
from occuring, you should always take immediate action when a tooth shows any sign of change.
Fillings
Today there are many materials from which to choose for filling teeth. Old-style silver
fillings, otherwise known as amalgams have all but dissappeared as a filling material. Instead, we use the more popular
plastic or resin fillings, which are virtually invisible once they are set in the tooth. These new materials will last
for years and look just as if they are just part of the real tooth.
Crowns
When a tooth
is fractured or otherwise weakened, a crown is usually recommended. A crown provides complete coverage of your tooth
and can strengthen and protect it. A crown is built with advanced materials designed for durability and appearance.
Once it's in place it can restore the appearance and health of the your tooth.
Inlays & Onlays
These are long-lasting alternatives to filings and crowns. They are used to replace large
old filliings or repair teeth that have been chipped or broken. Additionally, they can be used to change tooth
appearance and gaps that distract from the overall beauty of your smile. They are usually made of porcelain and can
be made to look just like your own natural teeth. The final result is to give the appearance of a healthy tooth
that has never been restored.
Implants
Fixed bridges, dentures and partial dentures can sometimes be a real bother. Implants are becoming
a very popular alternative to these choices. If you have lost a tooth and want to replace it without affecting the teeth
around it, implants could be just the solution you need. If you are currently wearing dentures, implants may be just
what you need to regain the feel and function you had when you had your own natural teeth.
